Selected Ambient Works Volume II is the second studio album by Aphex Twin, the pseudonym of British electronic musician Richard D. It was released by Warp in March 1994. Like abstract paintings composed of shades of a single color, James's resonant explorations of specific timbres linger close to a central idea on each cut.
- Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works 85-92 was released in 1992 by R&S offshoot Apollo Records after Richard D. James had just two singles to his name (Analogue Bubblebath 1 & 2). SAW85-92 is a world away from from James’ frenetic later work, but the RDJ pedigree is fully intact.

A milestone in Aphex Twin’s feted discography, Volume II was claimed to have been inspired by lucid dreams James had, during which he would attempt to score the sounds in his head, the track titles accompanied with images rather than names.
A gentle, at times deeply unsettling series of soundscapes that has drawn comparison with the likes of Brian Eno and Erik Satie, it has garnered secular reverence unlike anything else in the intervening years.
