Driver updates for Windows 10, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:

  1. Install mouse drivers on Windows 10. To install mouse drivers on Windows 10, follow these steps. Download the mouse driver. Run the executable file. Follow the on-screen instructions. Restart the system once the installation is complete. Mouse drivers via Windows Updates. If you cannot find mouse drivers from other sources, you can install them.
  2. Update Your System Drivers. Although Windows 10 should have the USB 3.0 drivers you need to use your compatible devices, it may be some other drivers are too out of date to work properly. To update them, you need to know the name and model of your system or device. If you want to be specific, know the motherboard make and model, too.
  3. Unzipping - the driver. Windows 10 or 8.1 - Save the zip file to a location of your choosing. Once you have the zip file downloaded, open the zip file (Windows built in zipping program). Copy the folder inside to a new folder. It will unzip the contents, (this is the folder you will need when you are doing the steps below).

Depending on the type of file you downloaded, it could be an.exe, a.cab, or a.zip, so you'll need to unzip the drivers out of this file. Driver files are historically mainly.inf files, but you don't need to pick and choose the individual files because this next process makes it automatic for you.

Update the device driver

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.

  2. Select a category to see names of devices, then right-click (or press and hold) the one you’d like to update.

  3. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

  4. Select Update Driver.

  5. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

Reinstall the device driver

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.

  2. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall.

  3. Restart your PC.

  4. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
